- Flowers: purple, up to 2” in diameter with spiny red-tipped bracts
- Leaves: covered in white cob-webby hairs, up to 2’ long, spines along edges
- Stems: up to 9’ tall with fins
- Reproduction: seeds
- Problems: invades rangeland, degrades wildlife habitat
