- Flowers: pink, in dense heads, bracts with papery margins
- Leaves: blue-green, slightly hairy, lower ones with lobes
- Stems: up to 3 feet tall
- Reproduction: seeds, sprouts from widely spreading roots
- Problems: invades rangeland, degrades wildlife habitat
