- Flowers: purple, up to 3” in diameter, bracts large like an artichoke
- Leaves: up to 10 “ long, narrow, spine-tipped, with whitish edges
- Stems: up to 6 feet tall
- Reproduction: seeds, severed roots
- Problems: invades range and degrades wildlife habitat
